Hair Trends- Update Your Tresses With Graphic, Blunt Bangs

Cutting your hair is a great way to give yourself a new look but if your are shy of going under the shears, getting bangs is a better way to cut through a hair slump. Blunt bangs evoke the feel of that 70’s cool, rocker chic made famous by Francois Hardy, Jane Birkin and Anna Karina.

Some modern ladies that sport the bold look include, Christina Ricci, Jessica Biel, Lake Bell and MisShapes superstar DJ and front row darling Leigh Lezark.

"If you take a few minutes to style your bangs, you can get a away with a much messier overall vibe but still look chic," says NYC stylist Ted Gibson. If your hair not naturally straight, make sure to flatiron your newly sheared bangs and spray with dry shampoo to keep them to decrease the static caused by heat. Dry shampoo is a particularly handy product to use since it helps zap excess oil from accumulating around the hairline until your next shower.

To get a more tousled look, spritz hair with leave in conditioner and let it air dry. Then just mist a comb with hair spray, and run through your fringe for a relaxed, beachy feel.

Perhaps most importantly, remember to never cut your own bangs. The horror stories that rise from ladies that take to their own hair is more than we can bear to write about. Hair salons typically offer either free or very low priced ($5-$15) trims for fringes for this particular reason.
