Manolo Blahnik previewed his exquisite F/W 12/13 collection at the Excelsior in Milan, Italy recently. The exclusive event was attended by selected guests including his niece Kristina Blahnik, press but the real surprise was seeing Anna Dello Russo. The Italian fashion editor known for her taste in over-the-top duds wore a canary yellow pantsuit that reminded us of Coco Rocha’s version at the Met Ball a few days ago.
The event also celebrated Blahnik’s book “Manolo Blahnik Drawings”, which the designer happily signed for some lucky ladies. Perhaps better than getting a book signed though, would be to get a shoe signed. Blahnik also obliged several requests to sign the sole’s of shoes as well.
The Spanish footwear guru was recently in the news when reports surfaced that a collaboration with J. Crew had gone down the drain. Obliging a request to send over shoes for the casual label’s presentation at New York Fashion Week, J. Crew president and creative director Jenna Lyons, overstepped her fashion boundaries by announcing a collaboration with Blahnik for Fall 2012.
The Excelsior which houses other coveted designer wear from Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin, opened its doors in September 2011 is a concept store laden with external video displays on the facade.
