After finishing off her scenes in the upcoming flick “Les Miserables”, Anne Hathaway hit the warm sun and beaches of Miami with her fiancée and showed off a perfectly adorable pixie hairdo. While the reason for getting such a short cut was her role of Fantine, a prostitute with a terminal case of tuberculosis who sells her hair to provide for her daughter, it really does suit her very well. Michelle Williams and Emma Watson have both had a similar “Jean Seaberg-esque” cut for a few years now.
Aside from the mandatory cut, Anne was reportedly ordered to drop 16 lbs. in three weeks for her role for which she ate no more than 500 calories a day, far below the average 2000 calories recommended by doctors. Anne is no stranger to extreme measures though. For her role as Catwoman in this summer's The Dark Knight Rises, the actress has said she lived on "kale and dust."
Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe will also be starring in the Le Mis musical which was primarily filmed in England. Amy Adams, Jessica Biel, Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet and Rebecca Hall were all considered for the coveted role of Fantine but Anne won out due to a proverbial wonk and nudge from Jackman. Anne sang with him at the Academy Awards twice, who suggested Hathaway audition for Fantine. Anne reportedly blew everyone away at her audition, leaving them in tears.
