Beauty and health director/special projects editor at Teen Vogue, Eva Chen-Bannister knows a thing or two about great style. We love looking through Eva’s tumblr account where she posts pictures of her effortlessly chic outfits and gives tips on everything from gel mani’s to the flats versus heels dilemma. As the first beauty editor at Condé Nast to start a blog, her sleek, minimal style gives us a well-balanced looks day after day.
Though she is knee-deep in skin care products and makeup nowadays, Eva was once enrolled in the Johns Hopkins pre-med program, on a fast track to becoming a doctor. In an interview with Mochi Magazine, Eva spoke about the turning point in her life which happened between the summer of her junior and senior college years. She landed a coveted full-time, paid internship at Harper’s Bazaar and the rest was history. “My first day of work [at Harper’s Bazaar] was kind of really an eye-opening experience. It was just that light-bulb-going-off-over-your-head moment. I just kind of realized that there was more out there. There were people who loved words and loved to write and loved to craft these stories and tell stories to people as their career.”
Aside from swooning over Eva’s New York chic attire, as beauty and health director the free flowing advice she shares is really great to read too. On combating dry skin and keeping your body hydration on the up and up she notes, “…for flights longer than three hours, I reapply moisturizer and as a general rule, I drink at least one cup of water per hour of flight and try to stay away from the inflight meal.”
Most recently Eva posted about wearing an oversized Thayer blazer, black cashmere sweater from Club Monaco, leather leggings from Bird, Isabel Marant sneakers during a hike around the Cotswolds in England. Here we have picked 12 of our favorite looks that she worn to everything from the office to a Dior party.
“vintage Chanel jacket, Cos skirt and sweatshirt, Miu Miu sequin heels, Goyard tote!”
“leather-accented, acid yellow Whistles top (here’s the full story of how and where I bought it), poufy blue Topshop skirt, Zara velvet loafers. sidenote: I typically wear somewhat boring flats when I wear skirts that are ludicrously short (as one should)”
“wore a summery new Rachel Roy dress to the Dior party last night and, of course, six inch Alaias”
“super casual weekend look with zero makeup on (so brave of me, haha): over-sized Thayer blazer, random tank from I don’t remember wear, The Kooples jeans, Isabel Marant sneaker wedges, and—drumroll—new Celine Tri-Colore Nano Luggage”
“Sandro cashmere t (it’s still so chilly out, sigh), Topshop jeans, Reed Krakoff heels”
“Cos sweater dress, Topshop leather moto jacket (which I’ve had for a decade—it’s one of my MVPs. I’ll do a Youtube video on it soon!), Isabel Marant sneakers, PS1 bag”
“new outfit: ancient Chloe dress, new Reed Krakoff heels!”
“Lanvin blouse, little Marc Jacobs tweed shorts, sparkly Repetto flats”
“vintage dress from the 1950s, Miu Miu polka dot heels, Meredith Wendell belt”
