The 40th annual FiFi Awards celebrate top sellers in the perfume industry which proved this year to be Tom Ford Violet Blonde, beating out Angel EDT, Bottega Veneta, Elie Saab, and Prada Candy. Celebrities, who comprise a good chunk of this market nowadays are usually on hand to hopefully get an award or present one at the least. One such celeb was Nicole Richie, looking très 60’s chic in a high beehive inspired updo and lace Pucci babydoll dress.
The short hemline and long train might have looked silly on anyone else but Nicole since she is very petite. She polished off the look with simple earrings and smoky makeup for maximum retro goodness. Good Charlotte singer and hubby Joel Madden was not with the former reality star as he is in Australia with their two kids mentoring singers on the Aussie version of The Voice. Nicole shared that she planned on flying back to be with her kids and had just left them to attend the awards in NYC.
What Prada’s Candy perfume (which we are personally not fans of) lacked in scent it apparently made up for in looks. The Italian label’s fragrance won Best Packaging of the Year. In the consumers choice category a far less pricey and top shelf perfume, Victoria’s Secret Angel beat others proving yet again that smelling good can indeed be bought for a fraction of the cost.
