Shopaholic- DVF x Current/Elliot Makes Its Floral Springy Debut

Diane von Furstenberg is known to most as the queen of wrap dresses, she did indeed invent them herself in the 70’s. Of course the DVF brand has since come out with more than a simple dress and we have always been a fan of her lightly feminine collections season after season. She has now joined a slew of other designer collaborators in teaming up with a younger, hip brand for a capsule collection. As an added bonus Gia Coppola has also shot a short film to promote the collection, nothing says young and hip like a Coppola.

Furstenberg has just released a limited 6-piece collection with denim brand Current/Elliott set against bright wallpaper and paired with some pretty pieces of her own label. The pieces are available now at Shopbop, and in-stores at Bloomingdales as well as Saks.

Gia Coppola the niece of Sophia Coppola and granddaughter to the godfather himself has shot an adorable 5 minute short starring Tracy Antonopoulos, Aubrey Plaza, and Ray Liotta star in a playful 60s-inspired story about a young screen writer in Hollywood. The film is titled, Writer’s Block. We honestly didn’t really get the correlation between Writer’s Block and the denim clothes, but the film is a trip to watch anyway.

Collaborations are all the rage right now in case you have not noticed, which we think is a practically impossible notion. Some of the more recent ones have been, Daphne Guiness and MAC Cosmetics, Prabal Gurung and Sally Hansen, Jason Wu for Target, Manolo Blahnik for J.Crew, Marni x H&M and even the TV show Mad Men with Banana Republic and Estee Lauder. There are more than these few that we can think of and undoubtedly since people are so fond of designer creations at low prices, there will be many more to come.
