Coachella Festival is officially in full swing. Music lovers from all around the world, celebrities and fashion folk from H&M to FabSugar and MAC Cosmetics are in their second day of the three day festival. Since Coachella is set in the California desert of Indio, it is usually pretty warm with temp’s reaching into the hundreds but this year it’s much cooler and even drizzled some which had everyone wearing rubber wellies and begrudgingly covering up with coats and jackets. Check out our complete gallery of Coachella 2012 day 01- it’s just like being there but without the nasty mud and rain.
“This is the same festival where a then little-known Skrillex played to a scant crowd in 2011, and less than a year later managed to steal a sliver of Grammy spotlight from Adele.” -LA Times“Chella” always brings out everyone’s inner hippie. Images of flower children, Woodstock, Anita Pallenberg and cut-off tops are what come to mind at this massive music fest. On day one we spotted Vanessa Hudgens, Kate Bosworth, Paris Hilton, Katy Perry, Jared Leto, Cisco Adler and even Lindsay Lohan (who was hiding behind a plastic umbrella, genius).
With three stages playing host to musicians simultaneously there is a lot going on at any given time. Highlights this year include Afrojack, The Black Keys, M83, Arctic Monkeys, Swedish House Mafia, Azealia Banks, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Shins, Oberhofer, Santigold, The Hives, Florence + the Machine, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
But what the people want most of all is to party and there are a satisfying array of those babies lined up night after night. Party producer Brent Bolthouse’s Armani Exchange- and T-Mobile-sponsored Neon Carnival is a one-night-only affair that’s one of the most exclusive and talked-about Coachella parties. Guess is hosting three days of pool parties in La Quinta at the lavish Lake La Quinta Inn, Spin magazine and Skyy vodka are also hosting the Skyy Infusions Coconut Escape Pool Party. For a full list of parties check out it out here.
“At the Ace Hotel you'll find the surface of the pool slicked with suntan lotion — an oily indicator of the amount of nearly naked bodies in it — and a line of sunglass-clad hipsters circling the place like thirsty hyenas in tiny neon shorts and nautically themed hats reminiscent of those worn by the Captain & Tennille.” -LA Times
