Journal de Mode- Laetitia Casta’s Massive, Magnificent Vogue Paris Editorial

Walking the line between black swan and biker chic, French model turned actress Laetitia Casta appears in Vogue Paris’ May 2012 issue, lensed by Mario Testino. With the styling prowess of Emmanuelle Alt, the heir to the throne of ex editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld, the editorial is absolutely breathtaking. Alt has Casta wearing Kenzo, Dior, Alexander McQueen and Miu Miu among others while posing with props like a stuffed swan, a knife and that very French of accessories, a cigarette.

Alt has had big shoes to fill after the departure of her former bosslady. Roitfeld recently announced that she was going to be heading into the publishing world once again. After leaving Vogue Paris abruptly last December Carine has kept busy styling Jennifer Lopez in boxing gear, and famously declaring herself “the winner” against Alt who was her right-hand gal at the magazine.

Emmanuelle Alt’s own personal style seeps through this shoot, mixing masculine, structured pieces in a feminine way. Alt has had however some missteps along the way. Remember the tarp-like trash bags she has Karlie Kloss wearing? Thankfully this editorial came along in time to redeem her as she continues to find a good footing in the world of Condé Nast.
