Fashionable Faces- Meet Lulu Kennedy, Editor-at-large Of Love Magazine

With a knack for spotting talent in young designers, Lulu Kennedy has naturally progressed to the next step most fashion folk aspire to. As the new Editor-at Large of the terrifically avant-garde Love Magazine, we thought it best to look at her personal style which has all the irreverence of Carrie Bradshaw’s fashion forward Je ne sais quoi with a dash of British glam.

The founder of Fashion East, an organization similar to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund that helps discover, showcase and financially nurture young designers, Lulu Kennedy is not only the owner of an enviable wardrobe but quite an interesting upbringing as well. Born in Newcastle to what she lovingly describes "hippie" parents, Kennedy tells Interview Magazine of a childhood spent living in a caravan, constantly moving from Devon to Ibiza to Sicily and beyond. "That's definitely influenced my style," says Kennedy, whose look is the epitome of quirky London cool. "The whole [hippie] ethos has a lot to do with who I am. I'm pretty scruffy."

According to WWD, Katie Grand, Love's editor in chief, said she chose Kennedy because she's "always been hugely impressed with [Kennedy's] ability to discover the brightest new talents, and by her commitment to nurturing young designers as they navigate their way into the fashion industry." She most certainly has nurtured some of today’s most talented designers, which include Henry Holland, Roksanda Ilincic, and Gareth Pugh, among others.

Kennedy has made such a mark on the British fashion industry that the Queen awarded her an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) just last month. So what does one wear to such a prestigious event? Not one to wear a stuffy, prototypical gown Kennedy opted for amazing pieces from Michael van der Ham, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Roksanda Ilincic, and Christian Louboutin.
