"Living, breathing, stunning, gorgeous!" is how MAC makeup artist Val Garland describes this season’s beauty looks backstage. In the video, Garland sits down to discuss her inspirations, compromising with designers and her own vision as well as her favorite products. Using loads of glitter and iridescent shadows in sepia and dusty rose tones helped designers, Garland helped designers from Vivienne Westwood to Moschino, realize their vision this season.
Creating some of the most beautiful graphic eyeliner and glittered lips for miles, Garland is interviewed about invisible structure, contouring and that ever elusive “no-makeup look”. The fast paced hectic environment backstage during fashion shows coupled with highly dramatic music the video is set to are pretty awesome as well.
The MAC artist’s really turned it out this past season, as they always do. Simultaneously travelling across the globe and working many shows each day they created some very beautiful memorable looks we fell in love with. Remember the layers of gold shadow and gold leaf on the models lids accented with thick winged out liner at Michael van der Ham? They were called “Halos of sunshine”.
To get your own dewy, iridescent skin going, mix MAC’s Care Blends Essential Oils with foundation. This little trick was used at Balmain in Paris for glowing skin in seconds.
Some of Val’s recent shoots include the cover of British Vogue featuring Sienna Miller, a spread in American Vogue with Natalia Vodianova and W Magazine’s double cover featuring Kate Moss as an angel and a devil.
