Once in a long while we see a collection so complete, so utterly beautiful in its execution that it leaves us breathless. The Lanvin Fall ‘12 show did just that in its flawless rounded peplum shapes, rich color blocked hues, baroque sewed on oversized jewels and neon dyes fur wraps. There was practically four collections presented as one, each set of clothing meandering into the next culmination in a standing ovation and that much more love for its designer, the great Alber Elbaz.
Alber has been the reigning king of Lanvin for ten years now which was celebrated with a party after the show and the sheer joy that emanated from the clothing reflected this aptly. Glittering appliqués and wild vibrant prints heightened the collection as it progressed into a more and more celebratory territory. The models who wore shoes that had jewels on their soles in the end playfully and unabashedly worked each piece of clothing, smiling and blowing kisses to the audience.
What followed the show was a spectacular fete to celebrate the designers ten year anniversary at Lanvin which we will be covering very shortly, meanwhile feast your eyes on Lanvin, Fall 2012.
