Runway Report- Rachel Zoe Fall 2012 Was An Ode To 70’s Rock & Roll

Rachel Zoe’s first actual runway show was an all out 70’s rock and roll inspired collection. To date, Zoe has only ever showed her collections as a presentation with models standing still and a small selection of buyers and editors viewing them. A quick look at the clothes brings one person to mind the most, Rachel Zoe herself. We can see and in some cases have seen Rachel wear similar pieces but that is not necessarily a bad thing when you consider that for the past 20 years or so the woman has been styling and dressing celebrities very successfully for a living.

Skinny and exaggerated wide-leg trousers were paired with various silk blouses and there was plenty of sequined mini-dresses and massive faux fur as well as tailored jackets. There was plenty of velvet, leather and tweed to go around for good measure as well. The overall message we took away from her collection was menswear tailored for women, something that is very suitable (no pun intended) for women with various body types and sizes. Very clever.

What Zoe undoubtedly has on her side aside from a fantastic eye when it comes to trends and what women really want to wear is her impeccable styling of the collection. The collection lived up to the expectations we had from the stylist and reality star, it was no Chanel or Dior but the clothes will appeal to her many fans and surely sell very well in department stores which frankly in todays economy, is nothing to take lightly.
